We are delighted to formally announce that Iain McEwan will take up the position of Whitemoss Coaching Pathways Development Officer from Monday 23 January. Iain is a highly experienced coach with sound knowledge and awareness of the athlete pathway and, in particular, what it takes to achieve as an athlete and to be successful as athletics coach.  No stranger to Whitemoss, Iain has achieved considerable success with the club’s Combined Events Group during his 20 year tenure as a volunteer coach – a role which he will continue to carry out.  As a direct employee with scottishathletics, Iain will take part in SAL’s induction programme and some background work in the initial 1-2 weeks in the job.  Thereafter, Iain will liaise with club coaches to determine need and how he can support them, their athletes and the club.  Specifically, Iain will lead in raising coaching competency, focusing on developing coaches which will directly impact on athlete retention. The role will support the delivery of coach centred professional development (CPD) and education opportunities, including mentoring and parent / athlete workshops.  I am sure we are all ready and willing to give Iain every support necessary to ensure the club's continued development and success.
